After breakfast, we take a private boat tour of Negombo Canal. The 100km-long canal was constructed by the Dutch as a supply route from the town to churches and fishing villages. Afternoon at leisure.

DAY 3 / 3 NOVEMBER

Today we travel north in our air-conditioned mini-bus to the beach-side haven of Kalpitya, known for its serene beauty and dolphin-spotting.  Afternoon at leisure.

DAY 4 / 4 NOVEMBER

After breakfast, we board a boat and head to Wilpattu National Park for a wildlife safari. Designated a national park in 1938, this 132-hectare park and wetland is home to an array of gorgeous creatures including leopards, elephants, sambhur, buffalo, sloth bear, mongoose, crocodiles and peacocks.

KALPITIYA - JAFFNA

An early rise this morning for our onward journey to the northern capital of Jaffna. Closed to visitors for the past 30 years and now safe and comfortable, Jaffna is a tremendously rewarding place to discover traditional northern Sri Lankan art and culture.

DAY 8 / 8 NOVEMBER

After breakfast we proceed to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed, ancient capital of Polonnaruwa. 800 years ago, it was a thriving commercial and religious centre, and the glories of that age can still be seen in its archaeological treasures, with hundreds of ancient structures – tombs and temples, statues and stupas.

DAY 9 / 9 NOVEMBER 
GIRITALE - SIGIRiYA - KANDY

This morning we venture to one of Sri Lanka’s major attractions, the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD) to protect him from his rivals, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed site is known as the 'Fortress in the Sky'. The ascent boasts water gardens, artistic frescoes, mirror wall and breathtaking views from the top. We then continue to Kandy – another UNESCO World Heritage Site and last royal capital of Sri Lankan kings. In the evening step to the beat of traditional music and drumming with a cultural show showcasing the regions vibrant culture.

DAY 10 / 10 NOVEMBER 
KANDY

A relaxing day of optional excursions close to the hotel, including to 'Helga's Folly', once a family home in the 1930s, now a hotel that can only be described as one very trippy experience; and to Dambana, a jungle village inhabited by the indigenous people of Sri Lanka, the Vedda people.

A special day today as we enjoy a train journey through the hills and tea estates to "Little England" - Ella. There's an option for a 45-minute bushwalk to a stunning lookout known as Little Adam’s Peak, and a visit to the beautiful Ravana Cave.

ELLA - GALLE

After breakfast, we embark on our journey south to Galle, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and southern capital. Enjoy the evening relaxing at the hotel, once a Merchant home from the 16th century, located in the heart of the Galle Fort.

DAY 14 / 14 NOVEMBER 
GALLE

Today we enjoy a Galle city tour by tuk-tuk. Galle Fort was initially built by the Portuguese in 1619, and in the following centuries was expanded by the Dutch and the British. During the tour of Galle, you will have the opportunity to visit Galle Fort, Old Dutch Church and Walk along the Rampart.

This morning after breakfast, Nina will farewell her guests as they transfer to Colombo airport.
